Ann B. Plunkett, President of WorkPlace Partners, Inc. has been named Chair of the Board of The Wellness Community of Greater St. Louis. The Wellness Community is a national not-for-profit organization whose mission is to help people living with cancer and their loved ones enhance health and well being by providing a professional program of emotional support, education and hope. All programs are completely free of charge and offered in a comfortable home-like environment.

The Wellness Community of Greater St. Louis was founded by Peggy Michelson, Marsha Wolff and Tina Borchert. In 1988, oncologist Dr. Peter Weiss became involved. In 1991 business leaders and medical professionals met with Harold Benjamin, PhD, the national founder of The Wellness Community. With the help of over 2000 volunteers and more than 100 St. Louis businesses, TWC – STL opened its doors to cancer patients and their loved ones in June, 1993. There are over 20 Wellness Communities in operation around the country, with several in development.

The Wellness Community recently relocated to a new home in Des Peres, near the intersection of 1-270 and Manchester Road in Des Peres Professional Plaza. The new contact information for the organization is 1058 Old Des Peres Road, St. Louis, MO 63131, (314) 238-2000). The new facility has many upgraded features including larger support group rooms, a relaxation room, centralized reception and informational area, and an expanded library/media center with internet access for participants.
