Ann Plunkett – Principal

annAnn has over thirty years of legal and human resources experience as corporate counsel, employment counsel and human resources executive in various corporate settings.

Throughout her career, she has advised senior management on a wide variety of employment issues, including hiring practices, EEO issues, employment discrimination, employment testing, screening and selection, drug testing, reductions in force, employee benefits, plant closings, FMLA, ADA, policy and procedure development, employee discipline, sexual harassment, employee investigations, terminations, workplace violence, workforce diversity, and employee relations.

After two years in private law practice, she served as Assistant Counsel for T.G. & Y. Stores Company, a national discount retailer based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In 1985 Ann relocated to St. Louis to join The May Department Stores Company, a $14 billion national retailer. As Senior Counsel at May, she specialized in employment law, handling a broad scope of legal and human resources matters for May’s numerous divisions throughout the country, including Lord & Taylor, Payless ShoeSource, Famous-Barr, Hecht’s, Foley’s, Robinsons-May and Filene’s. Ann also gained hands-on human resources management experience at May, directing the store human resources function in an operating division.

At Fox Photo, Inc., a photo/imaging subsidiary of Eastman Kodak, Ann combined her legal background with her human resources expertise, serving as General Counsel and Vice President of Human Resources. In addition to managing all legal business issues internally for the 435 stores in 26 states, she directed the human resource functions including compensation, benefits, HR information systems, employee relations and federal and state compliance. She organized and staffed the human resources department and directed the implementation of payroll and human resources information systems.

In 1998, Ann founded the full-service human resources consulting firm, Workplace Partners.

Ann has been a frequent guest speaker for various professional organizations, both locally and nationally, on numerous employment-related topics.

A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Ann is a 1975 graduate of Oklahoma City University, Summa Cum Laude, and earned her Juris Doctor from Oklahoma University in 1978. She is a member of the Missouri Bar Association.

Ann Prenatt – Consultant

As the retired Vice Chancellor for Human Resources at Washington University in St. Louis, Ann brings an abundance of experience in coaching and advising business owners, conducting investigations, Title IX, talent management and employee engagement. She is the Co-owner of Simply Successful, LLC, a coaching and advising practice.

Ann holds a BS degree from Rochester Institute of Technology. She is active in the community, having served on the boards of several non-profit organizations.

At WorkPlace Partners, Ann provides consulting and investigation services for clients of the firm.

 

Melinda Koerkenmeier – Consultant

Melinda (Mendy) holds both a Business Degree and a Masters in Health Administration from St. Louis University. She completed her Masters in 2004 and graduated Magna Cum Laude. She worked in the healthcare industry for SSM for 5 years serving as the Director of the Bob Costas Cancer Center/Solid Organ Transplant for SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center and as the SSM St. Louis Network manager of Strategic Planning and Business Development.   At SSM Mendy excelled as a manager, worked on many strategic planning projects and developed comprehensive quality improvement plans. Mendy also has extensive experience in developing and implementing customer service programs as well as employee satisfaction and employee reward and recognition programs.

At WorkPlace Partners Mendy provides healthcare and human resources consulting services for clients of the firm. She is also an experienced trainer, creating and providing programs on a variety of topics. She serves as a research coordinator and research assistant. Mendy develops and implements online training products, creates media presentations, and manages large projects for the firm.
